# Declare allergens and labels

Every dish needs an allergen decision, otherwise you can't publish. The app refers to EU Regulation 1169/2011 and, in Germany, the LMIDV. This is guidance, not legal advice.

## Declare allergens for a dish
1. Open the dish in [[Smart Page › Edit page › Menu]].
2. Under **Allergens**, tap **Choose allergens** or **Edit**. The "Food information" page opens.
3. Next to **Allergens**, tap **Choose** and mark what the dish contains. You can also mark "May contain".
4. Under **Allergen information**, pick one of three options:
   - **List confirmed allergens**: guests see your allergens.
   - **Ask staff**: guests see "Please ask our staff about allergens and additives."
   - **Not reviewed yet**: the dish blocks publishing.
5. Use the switch below to confirm that you checked the details against the recipe and supplier information, or that your staff can give guests the information.
6. Tap **Done**.

You can choose from the 14 EU allergens, for example Cereals containing gluten, Milk, Eggs, Tree nuts and Celery.

## Ask staff for many dishes
1. Tap the tools button at the bottom right, then **Ask our staff**. It only appears while some dishes have no allergen decision.
2. Confirm "We keep written allergen documentation for these dishes."
3. Tap **Use for 12 dishes** (the number depends on your menu).

You can still declare allergens for single dishes later.

## Labels guests see
- Choose **Vegan**, **Vegetarian** and **Spicy** under **Dietary labels**.
- For drinks, choose for example "Beer or wine" or "Spirits" under **Drink type**. Guests then see the minimum age next to the name. In Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium that's 16+ for beer and wine and 18+ for spirits.

> **Important:** Missing information never means allergen-free. A dish marked "Vegan" must not contain milk, eggs, fish, crustaceans or molluscs. Otherwise the app blocks publishing.

## Common questions
**Can the AI fill in the allergens?** Yes, with [Complete with AI](mit-ki-vervollstaendigen). Check the details yourself afterwards. You are responsible.

**Can I confirm the ingredients from my printed menu all at once?** Yes, with **Confirm all from your menu** next to the ingredients. Allergens and dietary labels are confirmed one by one.
